In The Garden
At the edge of dissolution,
in these wide open spaces
of puddles and places—
Are the limits of a tether
where her control won’t lapse.
So she dances till pink blooms,
and clinging leaves detach.
Overgrowth
Outgrown,
Overgrown.
I grew too many branches,
watered too many vines.
The mess became my meaning,
and that meaning was divine.
Outgrown,
Overgrown.
I hallowed these weeds,
firmly planted my mind.
I stayed for the burden
of tending trees that weren’t mine.
Outgrown,
Overgrown.
I leave faith to the seedling,
labor to the blind.
