An original sonnet written alongside the artwork.

All That Glisters (Ruminations)

There is a room of beauty in my head,
A string of thought I never did intend.
I sigh at tangled knots and fearful dread,
Then dance in sleep while burrowed lies pretend.

These lovely links do fray a scattered joy,
A thread of hope amidst the noiseless noise.
I circle, near and dear—and close and coy,
To errant visions propped by airless poise.

But in this place where tattered things attach,
My mind burns tired of this raveled map
to sights unseen and locks unlatched.
They tempt rare gems, and paint an artful trap.

This is my room of cycled dread and peace,
I leave the door shut soft, so I may be.
